Action Falls, previously known as the Guide to Action for Falls Prevention in Care Homes (GtACH) was developed and rigorously tested by researchers at the University of Nottingham, including Dr. Fran Allen (Senior Research Fellow in the School of Medicine, Academic Unit of Injury, Inflammation and Recovery Sciences, Centre for Rehabilitation and Ageing), this evidence-based framework sets a new standard for proactive falls management in social care.

The programme was evaluated in one of the largest randomised controlled trials (RCT) of falls prevention in care homes ever undertaken.

Researchers monitored service users' activity and dependency levels throughout the trial and found no decline in either.
